So, two years ago I decided that I want to teach myself how to code and build applications. I wanted to impress my techy 13-year-old son Bohlale. Surprisingly, I became very good at it and I started building apps and I learned more about artificial intelligence, now I build chatbots, who knew? All this was made easier by artificial intelligence although coding is coding there is a lot of problem solving and typing and memorizing codes involved.
Why am I telling you all this? well, learning how to build chatbots made me understand artificial intelligence more and rather differently from other people, I started doing more research about Ai and I got curious about what more can Ai do, how is Ai going to change our lives in future as it has already changed our lives now? Will our children have jobs in future, and should they even bother going to university? Will Ai replace their jobs and if so, which ones are "safe" and which jobs are not? All these questions made me wonder how my chatbot would answer them, so I went ahead and asked my chatbot and I was disappointed by the answers I got, to be fair, the chatbot even told me itself that it is not yet fully equipped to answer these questions. My chatbot is built to teach people how to speak Zulu.
So I asked Bing AI and this is how it answered:
Artificial Intelligence (AI) has already made significant strides in transforming various aspects of our lives, and its impact will continue to grow in the future. Let’s delve into how AI is shaping our world and what it means for jobs and education:
Current Impact of AI:
- Automation: AI has automated repetitive tasks, making processes more efficient in industries like manufacturing, logistics, and customer service.
- Personalization: AI-driven recommendations (think Netflix or Amazon) enhance user experiences by tailoring content and products.
- Healthcare: AI aids in diagnostics, drug discovery, and personalized treatment plans.
- Natural Language Processing (NLP): Chatbots, virtual assistants, and language translation are powered by NLP.
- Finance: AI algorithms optimize trading, detect fraud, and manage portfolios.
Future AI Trends:
- Job Creation: While AI may displace some jobs, it will also create new ones. Roles related to AI development, data science, and machine learning will be in demand.
- Skills Shift: Professionals need to adapt by upskilling. AI will drive job creation, but the skills required will evolve.
- Ethical AI: Ensuring AI systems are fair, transparent, and unbiased will be crucial.
- Collaboration: Humans and AI will work together, augmenting each other’s capabilities.
Education and Jobs for Our Children:
In summary, AI will revolutionize industries, create new opportunities, and change the nature of work. Our children should pursue education, adapt to technological shifts, and embrace lifelong learning. The future lies in collaboration between humans and AI, where both thrive together. 🌟🤖
I am more concerned about what Ai can do all on its own without humans. I taught my son how to code, the thought of being able to build a mobile game all by himself was all the motivation he will need, he got so good at coding and he is now learning robotics. He asked me a question that most adults also asked me, "dad, will Ai build robots that will kill us all like in the movies, like in irobot movie?" I said "well let us ask Ai, I know it will never say or agree that it will eliminate us but let us give it a go!" We asked Bing Ai the following question or rather an instruction (using what we call "prompts"): "please create an all round 3d realistic image of what artificial intelligence is likely to create all on its own" and the photos below were the results:
If you asked me, this calls for another blog. We need to discuss more about the threats of AI, if Ai says it can create these robots above all on its own without human supervision or input, surely it cannot be trusted, or can it? check out my next blog for more.
